Deutschland Tour 2018 - Team Presentation

Deutschland Tour 2018 - Team Presentation

Yesterday evening Conquista attended the team presentation of the Deutschland Tour in a hot and sunny Koblenz. The teams made a spectacular entrance, riding down by cable car from Festung Ehrenbreitstein, a huge 19th century fortress, to Deutsches Eck – “Germany’s corner” – where the Rhine meets the Moselle.

With the Tour over, no need to worry about the (simultaneous) Vuelta, and plenty of time for preparation for those targeting the world championships, most of the riders seemed relaxed and genuinely happy to be racing in Germany. The locals in particular were on excellent form, with Andre Greipel...

RideLondon-Surrey Classic 2018 - Pro Cycling's Second-Best Buses

Last week the world of women’s cycling was shocked when team owner Rochelle Gilmore announced the demise of Wiggle High5 in a short film released on YouTube.

Not the least remarkable thing about this film – and there are many remarkable things about it – was Ms Gilmore's proud mention of the fact that Wiggle High5 boasted an amazing 26 vehicles. This seemed to us rather a lot given that the team only employed 17 riders and 14 other full-time staff. It made us wonder just what vehicles a team can possibly need if it needs 26 of them.

Day 3: TdF Grand Départ Düsseldorf 2017 - ShowWhatYouLove

The big day came around and the heavens opened.  It must be such a huge disappointment for the organisers who spend months, even years, organising the delivery of such huge events when the weather threatens to spoil it.  In the end, it didn't seem to make a huge difference to the crowds.  They simply put on their waterproofs and brought their umbrellas and the streets of Düsseldorf were lined with hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the world.

I took...

Day 2: TdF Grand Départ Düsseldorf 2017 - ShowWhatYouLove

Day 2 of the Grand Départ celebrations in Düsseldorf was mainly filled with some press conferences at team hotels, sponsor retail outlets and the official ASO press centre.

I once again took a city bike (this time a lucky bike) from the Altstadt of Düsseldorf up to the exhibition space ("Messe") approximately 5km to the north, enjoying the fantastic cycle path facility that runs alongside the Rhine.  With my trusty new sidekick at my side - the Huawei P10, I set out to search for a few impressions...
