Mark McNally is a professional road cyclist with Team Wanty-Groupe Gobert, a Belgian-based Pro-Continental outfit.  Despite being in the second tier of professional cycle racing, the team benefits from a huge number of wildcard invites to the top races and in 2016 finished as the highest ranked team in the UCI Europe Tour.

In the past, Mark has been part of the British Cycling youth development system, where he became Junior European Champion on the track.  But he followed his heart to Belgium where he now lives and races, making his way in the uncompromising...

Strange how for the second week running I’m sat typing away in a ski chalet, this time though I’m 2,203m up in the tiny, snow-covered village of Trepalle, just above the valley of Livigno. I came here straight from the Tour of Austria, where I was a last minute call-up, but to be fair it was fairly successful for the team with one guy on the podium and two other guys inside the top 11, a stage win, the green jersey...

We've signed-up Team Wanty-Groupe Gobert (WGG) new boy Mark McNally - the lad from Liverpool with the heart of a Flandrian Lion!  Throughout the 2016 season Macca will keep us up to speed with his life inside the pro peloton.  WGG are a UCI Pro-Continental team who receive a healthy number of wildcard invites to some of the biggest and best bike races in the world.  Each week we will bring you a little insight into the highs and lows of being a young rider trying to make it to the top level of professional cycling.  This week - "Back To Reality" tells of Mark's shock of returning to a "normal people" life in Belgium after spending time with all his teammates at their first collective training camp in Alicante, Spain.
