Dan Monaghan - British Cycling National Road Championships 2016: Road Race
Photographer
Dan Monaghan was in
Stockton-on-Tees on Sunday for the road race at the
British Cycling National Road Championships. Click the link above to see a gallery of his images. (You can see Dan's shots of Thursday's time trials
here.) It turned out to be a good day for some of Conquista's favourite riders.
In the elite women's race,
Hannah Barnes of
CANYON//SRAM Racing took the jersey after holding off a late challenge from her sister (and U23 champion)
Alice Barnes of
Drops Cycling. You can read more about Hannah's success, and that of her CANYON//SRAM team mates in other national championships last week, in the team's blog at conquista.cc
here.
The men's race was won by
Tinkoff's Adam Blythe, who held off no less a rider than
Dimension Data's Mark Cavendish in the final sprint. However, Conquista star blogger and Liverpool's Lionheart
Mark McNally of
Team Wanty-Groupe Gobert was in the mix throughout an extremely hard-ridden race, finishing in a superb fourth position. Macca's blog can be found exclusively at conquista.cc
here.
We were also delighted to see the U23 title go to
Tao Geoghegan Hart of
Axeon Hagens Berman. Tao is one of Conquista's favourite prospects for the future, and he featured heavily in a major piece from
Shane Stokes in
Conquista issue 10 (available
here) about the challenges of the early stages of a pro career.
Finally, the race was animated by
Alex Peters of
Team Sky, who was spotted in Greece during pre-season training by photographer
Petros Gkotsis. You can revisit Petros's gallery
here.
