CANYON//SRAM Racing will line up in back to back Italian races this weekend with Giro dell'Emilia and Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli. The two races take place around the city of Bologna on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September and are the team's final races before the Doha road world championships next month.
For Giro dell'Emilia, a flat 98km race with a steep 2km uphill finish, Alena Amialiusik will lead a strong CANYON//SRAM roster. Amialiusik will be joined by Trixi Worrack, Tiffany Cromwell, and national champions Hannah Barnes, Elena Cecchini and Mieke Kröger. "I have done this race before and I know that the final climb to San Luca is hard, really hard. It's around 10% and some parts maybe 18-20% steep. We have a nice team here, I feel good and I'm looking forward to seeing what our team can do tomorrow."
Sunday's race GP Beghelli, although not flat or windy like Doha, will still form part of the final selection for many national teams including the Italian Federation. The course has six circuits of 13km with a climb in each lap. Barbara Guarischi will come in to the CANYON//SRAM line up for the 79km undulating circuit race, in replace of Hannah Barnes, and is looking forward to racing.
Guarischi, the Italian sprinter has had success in many flat, windy races this season including podium performances at Omloop van Borsele, Energiewacht Tour, Holland Ladies Tour, and Lotto Belgium Tour.
"I feel really good and I am looking forward to racing on Sunday, even if the course is different to what is in Qatar. Doha road world championships has been a goal of mine for all of the 2016 season. The course suits my strengths, it's flat windy and you have to be able to read the race situation at every possibility."
"I believe I have shown I can be good at a course like Doha this season. I've shown that all season I'm at the front, that either I am there to fight for the win or bring my teammates there, against all of the favourites for this year's rainbow stripes. I will use Sunday's race to show that again. I will give all for my team mates or I give all that I bring a result for my team."
Guarischi will be joined by fellow Italian Elena Cecchini, along with Trixi Worrack, Tiffany Cromwell, Alena Amialiusik, and Mieke Kröger.
The team will then have it's final race of its inaugural season at the team time trial world championships in Doha, Qatar on 9 October.
