CANYON//SRAM Racing will race the ASDA Women's Tour de Yorkshire for the first time on Saturday 29 April. Current British road champion Hannah Barnes anticipates the Yorkshire crowds to be out in force to support the women's race which coincides with stage two of the men's Tour de Yorkshire.
Joining Barnes for the 122km race will be Lisa Brennauer, Tiffany Cromwell, Barbara Guarischi, Mieke Kröger and Alexis Ryan. The UCI 1.1 race starts in Tadcaster, going north through the scenic roads of North Yorkshire, before an uphill drag to the finish in Harrogate around 12:20 (BST). The entire race is televised live and with a total prize money of €41,000 it makes ASDA Women's Tour de Yorkshire one of the most lucrative races on the women's calendar.

An undulating course from start to finish, the official climb of Côte de Lofthouse hits the peloton after 60km. With a length of 4.5km and average gradient around 6%, Barnes said it will make the race interesting. "It's a different course to last year and I think it's going to create a great race. I'm really looking forward to racing on home soil. I know some of the roads so I know what to expect on Saturday and we're really keen to have a successful race. We'll have some amazing support from the fans roadside and being televised is great for everyone else to be able to watch too."
Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Sir Gary Verity said: “Our race is going from strength to strength and we’ve worked hard to design another electrifying route which showcases Yorkshire’s stunning scenery as well as delivering a thrilling sporting event.”
The race starts at 9:20am (BST) and is televised live on ITV4 from 9am. Follow the action also on Twitter using #TDY.
