July 27, 2018 0 Comments

#ForzaPasqua!

#Gruppetto #Easy #Sunday

200.5 KM (MOUNTAIN) LOURDES > LARUNS 5'28"17

Today once again it was all for Pasqua's teammate Guillaume Martin on GC. Sadly he felt unwell and slipped on the General Classification. Pasqua's objective was to arrive within the time limit in the Gruppetto. tomorrow the whole team will take it easy on the ITT with the only ambition to get around the course. The focus shifts to Paris now and the sprint finish on the Champs Elysees.

Stage Profile

Key Climb

Team Wanty-Groupe Gobert Summary

The 19th stage of promised to be a spectacle. For the last day in the mountains the peloton had to survive six climbs, including the famous Aspin, Tourmalet and Aubisque. The prayers at the start in Lourdes were not enough to resist the attacks of the favourites on the road to Laruns. Guillaume Martin was dropped on Tourmalet and finally finished 31st, dropping to the 20th place in the general classification. This Saturday, the individual time trial between Saint-Pee-sur-Nivelle and Espelette will determine the final classification before the arrival on Champs Elysees Sunday. Wanty-Groupe Gobert will head to the final weekend with a full complement of eight riders.

Guillaume Martin:

"I was bad, there is not much to explain. I never saw the battle at the front of the race. I did not feel well from the start of the stage. I was dropped at the foot of the Tourmalet. I had a bad day. I am disappointed and I am not going to enjoy this. There is not much to be gained tomorrow."

ASO Stage Summary

One year after he became the first Slovenian to win a Tour de France stage after cresting the Galibier in the lead, former ski jumper Primoz Roglic powered to victory in the downhill following the col d’Aubisque. The LottoNL-Jumbo rider moved into the top 3 ahead of the individual time trial, 2’29’’ down on yellow jersey holder Geraint Thomas.
